To create a solid base for growth through expansion into future-oriented technology, we established research laboratory in Quality Assurance Department of Dhaka plant in 2010. As a pharmaceutical company committed to research in drug discovery and development, we have developed a number of innovative products. Recently this wing is developing pharma grade starch from stalk of water lily which accelerates to boost pharma based starch factory and plans to concentrate efforts to develop modified starch product (monosodium glutamate, liquid glucose, citric acid, carboxymethyl cellulose, ethanol) and microcrystalline cellulose for local consumption.
Mainly lab fellows are investigating naturally occurring substances that are characteristic for certain plant, grain and root with special emphasis on their pharmaceutical properties. The research works that are currently carried out in this lab include: isolation, identification of starch from cassava, stalk of water lily, potato and synthesis of pharmaceutically useful compounds, based on raw materials available in our country.
We have started our journey with good laboratory facilities and a team of highly qualified members who achieved higher degrees from abroad and renowned universities in the country to serve EDCL to strengthen the health services to the people's of the country.
